2008 — A Lesson From Inside the Industry

In 2008, Darnell Frazier was serving as President and CEO of Frazier Planning Service, leading clients through one of the most devastating financial crises in modern history. From inside the financial services industry, he saw firsthand how families with the right education weathered the storm — and how those without it were left vulnerable, confused, and frightened. The crisis exposed a truth that would shape the next chapter of his career: most people don't need another product or sale. They need understanding.

2016 — The Pivot Begins

That truth set the direction. In 2016, Darnell earned his Certified Financial Education Instructor (CFEI®) credential from the National Financial Educators Council — the first formal step in shifting his focus from financial planning to financial education. It was a deliberate decision: he wanted to spend his career teaching people how money works, not selling them solutions they couldn't fully evaluate. The CFEI® was the foundation. Everything that followed was built on top of it.

2019 — Transitioning Out, Building Toward

By 2019, Darnell was actively transitioning out of financial services and financial planning. After years of experience as a financial services executive, he was ready to dedicate himself fully to financial education and coaching. The vision was clear — an education-first, product-neutral approach that put learning, clarity, and empowerment ahead of everything else. The structure of what would become EYF was already taking shape in the background.

2020 — The Catalyst

Then 2020 arrived. The COVID-19 lockdown disrupted lives, markets, and livelihoods almost overnight. Darnell watched people make panic-driven financial decisions — selling at the bottom, cashing out retirement accounts, taking on debt they didn't understand — almost entirely because they lacked the education to know better. Lockdown gave him the space to see it clearly: the gap wasn't access to advice. It was access to education. That clarity moved him from preparation to action. He began pursuing the credentials that would define the EYF approach.

2021–2023 — Stacking the Foundation

Over the next three years, Darnell earned three more specialty credentials, each chosen deliberately to cover the pillars his future students would need:

2021 — Certified Personal Retirement Specialist (CPRS™), completed through the University of Georgia Terry College of Business, focused on retirement planning education.
2022 — Certified College Financial Consultant (CCFC), focused on college and education planning.
2023 — Registered Financial Consultant (RFC®), the consultant-level credential from the International Association of Registered Financial Consultants.

Combined with the CFEI®, this four-credential stack — RFC®, CPRS™, CCFC, CFEI® — became the professional foundation behind every EYF service.

2025 — Empowering Your Finance Is Born

In 2025, after nearly a decade of preparation, Empowering Your Finance LLC was officially founded. The same year, Darnell launched The Road to Financial Empowerment podcast to extend the mission beyond one-on-one work and into the broader conversation. The decision came down to one simple realization: "I knew it was time." The credentials were earned. The philosophy was clear. The need was unmistakable. EYF launched with a single purpose — to make financial education simple, accessible, and life-changing.

2026 — Building the Community

In 2026, Darnell expanded the mission again with the launch of The Financial Empowerment Lab on Skool — a community where members can learn, ask questions, share progress, and grow alongside others on the same journey. EYF was no longer just a teaching platform. It was a community.

The Why, in One Sentence

"I founded Empowering Your Finance because I wanted to become a leader in the financial education and coaching field."
